Julio Garrido Mirapeix

He has spent thirty-five years overseas working in emerging markets, the lasttwenty-seven years based in Africa. Until fall 2019 he was a Partner in KPMGfor fourteen years - in 2006 he founded and led International DevelopmentAdvisory Services (IDAS) www.kpmg.com/das, a high growth Pan African BusinessUnit that achieved an annual turnover of US$ 25 Million specialized onchallenge and development fund management integrated by a multidisciplinaryteam of over two- hundred full time professionals. Prior to this he has been inExecutive positions with international agencies working across Latin America(United Nations) and Africa (European Union). Julio has been privileged to workin over forty Latin American, Caribbean, and African countries.

He has broad experience in the design, set up and management of large andcomplex investment platforms involving Global, Africa-wide, region andcountry-specific Challenge Funds, with emphasis on agribusiness, financialinnovation, renewable energy, and adaptation to climate change.

He has been at the forefront of social investment both in terms of thoughtleadership and operations, leading many US$ multi-million impact investments inseveral sectors and countries. His former portfolio encompassed finding andfinancing three hundred and sixty companies in thirty-two African countries.

Julio has also provided strategic and policy advice at the highest level togovernment institutions, major multilateral and bilateral donors, social andimpact investment funds, global and local foundations, other civil societyorganizations and private companies. He has been a member of several Boards andInvestment Committees and has set up large Special Purpose Vehicles such asTrusts and CLBGs. He has led many complex negotiations with Governments,private investors and investees.

He also enjoys interacting with large audiences, having been a speaker andpanellist at many international events. Julio speaks Spanish, English,Portuguese, Italian, French, intermediate Ki-Swahili and basic Swedish.
